The symbols on Stars Awakening are a mix of brightly coloured planets and aliens. The aliens, bar one, have pointy horns and vary in colour – basically they’re not all litle green men. Mind you a couple of them do look like the love-child of Shrek and The Mekon (older readers will get that reference).
The 20 lines of Stars Awakening are fixed but you can set the wager from 20p up to £2000. An Autoplay option is available plus there’s a Turbo Mode which is a tad redundant as the game isn’t exactly slow. The symbols drop into place at pretty much the same rate whether the Turbo Mode is on or off.

Stars Awakening has some interesting features including wilds and a giant planet bonus. The latter is a random bonus and it lands a giant planet on the screen covering reels 3, 4 and 5. When you do get a win line then a Supernova feature comes into play. A respin is awarded after a win and the purple planet becomes a scatter symbol. Subsequent wins increase the number of planets that can be scatters although a losing respins returns you to the start.
Our Verdict
When we first tried Stars Awakening it’s safe to say we weren’t overly enamoured. We liked the space theme but felt the game play and imagery wasn’t as good as other recent slot releases we’ve tried. However after a few spins it did grow on us. The Supernova respins do keep you engaged although rarely does the game get past Level 1 which is annoying. Likewise when the giant planet appeared on the reels we were frustrated to leave without a win.
This may not become a classic but it’s entertaining enough to head off into space for a while – why not take it for a spin and try it for yourself?
